Hi! Welcome to my site. I’m Greg Sargent, an amateur photographer residing in San Francisco. I graduated with a B.S. in Biology and minor in Philosophy from Davidson College in 2015. During my undergraduate studies, my favorite courses included genetics, herpetology, and biodiversity and conservation. After moving to San Francisco, I began volunteering as a Docent at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. My desire to learn more about the species I encountered on my hikes and walks throughout the city led me to create my first species blog, @backyard_botany, shortly followed by @backyard_birding_. I bought my first camera after failing miserably to take photos through my binoculars. I hope you will enjoy some of my favorite shots!
